About me

Iris in ’t Hof is a socially engaged designer working at the intersection of audiovisual-, graphic-, and social design. With a passion for storytelling and a strong sensitivity for human experience, she uses design as a tool to open up space: for reflection, nuance, and connection.

She graduated in 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in design from Art Academy Minerva in Groningen, where she followed the offroad design track: a cross-disciplinary path combining time-based and graphic design. This hybrid approach continues to shape her practice today.

Her work often begins with a personal question and unfolds through dialogue, research, and making. Guided by intuition as much as by theory, she creates experiences that invite people to look inward and reach outward. Whether through film, printed matter, or interactive installations, her projects aim to give shape to what’s felt but not always said.

In her eyes, the value of design lies not in the final outcome, but in its ability to create shared space for curiosity, exchange, and collective meaning-making.

Education

Alongside my artistic practice, I have a strong affinity for creating and sharing learning experiences. I design and facilitate workshops, classes, and collaborative trajectories in the fields of art, design, and movement.

I see education as a space for exchange rather than one-directional teaching. My sessions are participatory and process-driven, inviting participants to explore, question, and create together. By connecting to their lived experiences and perspectives, I encourage young people to actively engage with themes that are relevant to them and their environment.

I have a lot of experience working with a wide range of ages and levels, including MBO (level 1-4) students, different ages and levels dutch ‘middelbare’ school classes, adult groups (25+), and young people in youth care settings such as Horizon Assen. I teach weekly dance classes at TUDC Groningen, develop project-based programmes within secondary schools (such as thematic or “maker” weeks), and facilitate workshops for organizations like Kunstbende. Working across these contexts has strengthened my ability to adapt my approach, language, and methods to different groups.

Drawing from my interdisciplinary background, I combine visual storytelling with physical expression. Movement, image, and conversation become accessible tools for young people to express ideas, emotions, and perspectives: especially in cases where words alone may not be enough.

What I bring to young participants is not only creative skill, but a way of working that values their voice and agency. I create a safe and open environment where experimentation is encouraged, and where there is room for both individual expression and collective reflection.

My workshops and lessons can be tailored to specific contexts, groups, and learning goals. Whether in schools, cultural organisations, or alternative learning environments, I aim to support young people in developing confidence, critical awareness, and their own visual and embodied language.
